Eastern Railway Apprentice 2024 Results Announced: Merit List and Details
The Eastern Railway has put out its notification for the Act Apprenticeship Training Program for the year 2024-25, and eligible candidates can apply for training positions available in its various divisions.
Under the auspices of the Apprentices Act, 1961, this constitutes a structured opportunity for Indian nationals to gain technical expertise in trades such as being a fitter, welder, electrician, among others, under the Eastern Railway. Applications were found exclusively online, from September 24, 2024, through October 23, 2024, at 5:00 PM.
The merit list and result for the Eastern Railway Apprentice 2024 will be available on the RRC Eastern Railway website: rrcrecruit.co.in.
The merit list is prepared based on the marks of matriculation and ITI. The minimum aggregate percentage required in the matriculation is 50%.
The Railway Recruitment Cell, under Eastern Railway, recruits this large number of candidates at multiple locations including Howrah, and Sea divisions and also a few workshops, mainly Jamalpur and Kanchrapara.
The number of training slots can be different based on the actual requirement by the units of Eastern Railway, and reservations exist for the SC, ST, OBC, PBS and ESM categories based on government norms.
Applicants should ensure that they fulfill the required standards for age, educational background, as well as medical status.
Only candidates who are successfully processed at both the online application submission and document verification stages will be considered for training.
This apprenticeship therefore does not guarantee employment under the Eastern Railway, though preference will go to the trained recruits in filling up Level-1 recruitment positions in the future.

Selection Process:
The selection for apprentices in Eastern Railway will purely be merit-based:
- Applications received from candidates entitled to eligibility will be shortlisted for a merit list, drawn on average percentage marks obtained both in matriculation and ITI examination by allotting equal weightage to both.
- No centralized merit list will be prepared; separate lists for every trade and unit of all community categories will be prepared.
- The candidates shortlisted through this merit process shall be called for document verification, and after that, the training placements will be finalized.
- Candidate(s) having the same merit score will be ranked on age. In case of equal age, the candidate with earlier matriculation qualifications will be preferred.
- Candidates within the merit list will be summoned for Document Verification (DV) up to 1.5 times the number of training slots available to account for any absenteeism or disqualifications.
Preparation of Merit List:
The Eastern Railway Apprentice merit list preparatory calculation is based on the marks obtained in matriculation or 10th standard examination and ITI certification.
For instance, if a candidate secures 80.58% in matriculation and 91.68% in ITI, their merit score would be accordingly calculated, which comes out to be 86.13%. The application form may be filled with academic details accurately, as any inaccuracies found later may cancel the application.
The preparation of a merit list does not necessarily mean that candidates will be shortlisted for document verification. Their preference of trade and community will precede document verification in a 1:1 ratio.
The RRC will take such precautions to ensure that candidates are given one slot in one trade and unit only, based on their preference.
This will avoid duplication and ensure fair allocation. Candidates not initially selected may also be given a second and subsequent opportunities based on available training slots, but after the first set of candidates has been verified.
