Selection Process
The selection of apprentices for Eastern Railway would be purely by merit. On the basis of an average of percentage marks secured in both matriculation and ITI examinations, equal weightage will be given to both; the applications of the eligible candidates will be reviewed, and a merit list will be drawn. We will not have a single centralized merit list; rather, for each trade and unit, we will have a separate list prepared based on community categories. In case of two candidates having an equal merit score, preference will be given to the older candidate. The age is also the same, so if the date of completing matriculation is the same, we will consider the first candidate who has done matriculation. Depending on any absenteeism or disqualification, candidates who meet the merit criteria will be termed to go through Document Verification (DV), up to 1.5 times the number of training slots available.
Merit List Preparation Process
The merit list preparation is based on a calculated average of 10th standard examination marks and ITI certification. For instance, let’s say a candidate who appeared in the matriculation scored 80.58% and in ITI got 91.68%; then the merit score of the candidate will be an average of 86.13%. It is advisable to candidates who apply; they should make sure to input their academic details very carefully, and any discrepancy later can lead to the cancellation of their application.
According to their community and trade preferences, they had a 1:1 ratio.
